In which rambling about lunch foods is actually useful to writing
Apparently not blogging for two months or so puts me out of practice on spewing out random things that are hilarious, interesting, snarky, or all of the above on demand. (That sentence construction was pretty awful :P)
Cause I've sat here staring at the blank spot for content for about 20 minutes now, and nothing particularly brilliant has come out of my strange brain. Or really anything at all, unless you'd like to hear about what I had for lunch (it was good. Mmmm, burritos.)
And I'm starting to get frustrated at that endlessly blinking cursor, like it's somehow to blame. And then I start yelling at the computer and threatening to beat it with a bat, cause it won't make me come up with something particularly awesome.
Then people start to give me weird looks for wanting to strangle my computer, so I decided to come up with a solution in a calmer way. After reading about half way through my really odd ramble up there I got an excellent idea. I'll talk about the infamous writer's block.
Writer's block: Does it even exist?
A lot (and I mean a lot) of people claim that writer's block doesn't exist in the first place. That it's just a figment of our imaginations. And other people swear that it's their arch nemesis.
So which is true?
I think that somewhere in the middle is right (aren't I awesome at choosing a side? :P)
Some people tend to use writer's block as an excuse for when they feel stuck, like it's an entity that is somehow stopping them.
On the flip side, it is true that we get stuck in our writing from time to time.
So, I think the truth is, is that writer's block is real, but it's something that we can get past if we work at it (so no lazy excuses people! Well, unless you feel like being lazy. But at least admit you just don't feel like writing.)
How to get past it
There are several different methods, but the way that works for me is exactly what happened in this post. I sit down, can't think of anything, and start rambling off about who knows what until I get an idea.
Which is awesome for a blog post that could actually be about what I had for lunch if I really wanted to be. But how do we get specific ideas for our stories?
As a side note
I've decided it's a bad idea for me to write a blog post at the same time as an English paper. I get all serious and start putting things in orderly thought processes and bold the headings. Heck, I make headings.
Back to writer's block (HA! I didn't put it in bold that time!)
I like to write what one of my favorite authors, Gail Carson Levine, refers to as 'notes' or 'junk'.
Notes are when you write stuff about your story. You ramble about what kind of food your character likes, their favorite color, or why they happen to hate that one teacher until you think of something you could write about in your draft.
Junk is what I was doing. You ramble about what you had for lunch, about why clown cookies scare you, why you hate having no ideas, or why gorillas look so funny (ironic, seeing as we bear a strong resemblance. Well, more of a resemblance than lizards or whatever.) Until one weird idea leads to another, and to another, and eventually it leads to something that would actually make a good story idea.
So yeah... that's my piece on writer's block. And yeah I know it sounded a lot like a school paper, but in my defense I haven't written a blog post in a long time, and I have written quite a few papers.
Rock on! Peace out! Don't kill too many stupid people! All that good stuff

Hmm. Well that went well.
You know, I've noticed an interesting pattern. Whenever I say in a post I'm going to be posting more often, I disappear for a while week month or more.
Now, I'm not going to claim I was too busy, cause there were definitely times during the last two months or more when I could've posted. And it's not like I suddenly didn't like blogging anymore either.
The truth is, it's not only the blog that kinda died for no apparent reason. My whole life kinda went 'bleh'. And I had no idea why! For the longest time I could not put my finger on why I wasn't the happiest and why I was getting so lazy with all my hobbies.
Well, about three weeks ago I figured it out (which of course was the time school decided to punch me in the stomach, pin my hands behind my back, sit on me, and laugh at my attempt to have a life).
The simplest way of putting it would to be to say I was bored, but that's not the real problem. I got lazy about life. I wanted good experiences and fun stuff to come my way all by themselves, and when they didn't (ha, life isn't that nice) I got pessimistic and thought things were hard. When in truth, I was just sitting around being a bum.
I'm not really sure what made me snap out of it, but I did. And then I yelled at myself. And then got in an argument with myself. And then I wasn't speaking to myself for a while. And then I wondered if I was insane, and decided to just get over it already.
So now I'm getting my rear back in gear, which means I'm crafting, writing, tripping over my own feet, mocking myself, making snarky comments, and most importantly for my followers, I'm blogging again. Now, notice I'm not saying I'm going to post more often, cause that never goes well. But I'm over my weird semi-mid-life/summer crisis thing I had going that was, in a word, lame.
To celebrate this, I redid the blog again. Out with the old ya know. Isn't it shiny?
On yet another note, I promise to stop being a lame follower, and read all your guys' amazing stuff again. And leave comments.
Uh, though I think this time I won't post a comment on every old post. Cause that would kinda eat my soul. And I don't think that'd be a fun experience.
Which brings me to the part I've been dreading about this post. I've decided that I follow too many blogs for me to keep up with. GAH! There's too much awesome! It's overwhelming.
So, I have to stop following some blogs. At first I thought it'd be easy 'I know! I'll just stop following the blogs that haven't updated for like 9 months'
But then I realized that wouldn't change how much ends up in my feed on a day to day basis. So, I have to stop following some really good blogs that update all the time. Erg! I don't want to do it, but if there's too much then I just get kinda scared of how much I have to read, and then I don't even get started on any of it.
Grrrr. I don't want to step on any toes, but I just can't read it all.
Hope no one gets offended or anything. Cause if I followed you in the first place, you're awesome.
Anyway! Have a virtual cookie to celebrate the revival of this curse upon sanity.
And here's some cookies that will probably eat your soul or something, cause I'm a loving, wonderful person, who never does anything even remotely evil *snickers*

Fail Phase officially OVER!
So, I thought that the past twoish weeks would be crazy, but man, I didn't see that much crazy coming. I've been away from home so much, with so much to get done, it's been madness. But things seem to finally be calming down. Which means, hey, I might actually post. Wahoo!
I've been sewing again, and writing, and I seem to finally gotten over my creative/life fail phase. So this post shall be a few of my recently finished projects.
First off I finished the mushroom. The mushroom. The gignormous mario mushroom that I've been working on for over a year now (cause man, it takes a long time to gather that much stuffing). And yes, in case you were wondering, I did do a happy dance when I finally sewed the last little part.
Yay pictures!
I also had a giant tie dye shirt laying around that I made a million years ago. Since I made a new one, I thought this one needed to become a rockin' skirt.
It was pretty simple. I just cut below the armpits of the shirt to make a long tube, and made a waste band to fit me, and sewed them together.
The tube was bigger than the waste band, so I made ruffles in the back.
It's pretty much the most comfortable skirt I own, and matches with most anything. Win.
Well, that's all the projects for right now. Hope you like 'em ^_^
--------------------------------------------------
I think this here blog needs some actual content, instead of my just rambling about how busy my life is, so I'm going to be re-thinking what the heck I'm trying to accomplish here. (and don't worry, for those of you who've said you like the random, it will be random. Just something worth while too.)
I will get back to you on that, but until then, enjoy this virtual cupcake.

And here's the Mushroom next to my sewing binder, for size reference.

Um, yeah, I tried to get a good picture to show you how big this thing is, but it didn't work too well. Serious, you could kill someone with this thing by throwing it at them. There's no way to capture that in a photo.

And then I had to take a picture of the whole gang together

And, just because it's awesome

| Wahoo! I love getting the star in mario |
Yeah, so that's my most recent project.
Next up is the tie dye shirt I made. This thing is annoying. It's still leaking die in the wash! Gah! It's already ruined/booted-to-the-sewing-pile two shirts! But I still love it. It's so comfy.

*awkward silence* Apparently I'm temporarily out of witty titles.
GARG! my brain is sooo not cooperating. I've tried to write this post three times now, and it just keeps coming out emo and grouchy. Which just happens to be the EXACT opposite of what I'm trying to say. K, maybe not the exact opposite, but still. Life isn't perfectly happy* right now, but pretty close. Almost the exact opposite.
My brother's getting married! Woo! But, the wedding's in two weeks, which means I'm going to be pretty busy with that.
Also, my sister is coming from across the US to visit for this, so that just adds to the awesome. And the crazy busy.
What does this mean for you guys? I promise to blog once a week. I've tried to do it more often than that, but as you can see from the date of my last post, it didn't work. I'm still going to try to blog as often as I can, but I'm going to be crazy busy for a while. I'm really happy that it's good crazy, but still crazy.
Hmmm. Maybe I should get some guest bloggers or something...
But yeah! I promise I haven't forgotten about you, or sporadicly started hating blogging (*shudder*)
Here's to an insane two weeks! *Raises glass*
*Due to the insanity of my school schedule last year, I still have a few independent study courses. I'll still be doing school in July, which just leaves a nasty taste in your mouth. But I'm still happy!
Well, that was very ramble-y, but decidedly not emo, so we're good!

Five signs of a fantasy geek AKA why I don't have a life
Five signs of a fantasy geek
5. You lost count of the fantasy books you've read at about 200
4. You swoon at fantasy TV shows, no matter how corny
3. You check every morning to see if your ears have gone pointy yet
2. Your wedding dress is going to look like this, but in white.

| *drools over the awesome* |
1. You started taking fencing lessons.
Yes, I started fencing lessons. HOW FRIGGIN' AWESOME IS THAT?!
*cough* I am composed.
Yeah, so it pretty much rocks. I get to learn foil, eppy, and saber. It's a weekly class, and goes for like eight weeks. And if I like it (like that was a question?) I can start weekly lessons for forever.
The first class was Wednesday, and I'm already pretty sure I'm going to pwn at this (k, so I'll probably get my butt kicked more than not, but I can dream right?)
You know what's funny? Usually sports are divided boy/girl cause the boys would kill the girls cause they're typically stronger. But with fencing, it's divided boy/girl cause the girls kick the boys butt. It's because girls naturally use strategy, and guys just want to start hacking. How's that for awesome?
Also, a ton of awesome people have commented that they like my insane "theme"
Thanks guys! That took care of any lingering doubts ^_^
So what's on the forecast for tomorrow's post? I have no idea :D

In which too much awesome stabbed my blog in the face
Have you ever put something off? Even though you enjoy it?
I love to blog. It's the best. But this past week, I kept putting it off. During my quest to catch up on blog reading (more on that later) I started noticing themes in the blogs I read. Some are craft dedicated, some are inspirational, some are just plain hilarious, some are full of writing advice, and some are full of the stuff that happens to people every day. Whatever the theme was, it seems like every stinkin' blog has a theme.
Which made me very unsure about my blog all of a sudden. Cause some of you may have noticed I hop all over the place. One day, it's about my semi-inspired musings. Another day it'll be about the shirt I sewed AND how I fell down the stairs. I don't really think that what I blog about is boring or anything per say, but it's completely random. And I started to panic. Like some how I was breaking the rules and was going to fail any second if I didn't choose a theme SOON! AHH! PANIC!!!!
Which is, of course, completely ridiculous. This is my blog, and there are no rules except the ones I choose. So there weird, internal voice of mine.
After I told my panic to shut up, I did seriously think about it though. And I couldn't decide what I wanted to do. So I just didn't blog.
And I'm still kinda undecided, but I'm still going to blog in my usual random fashion until I do decide.
What do you think? Do you like my random blogging? Or should I stop switching topics so easily?
In other news, I've been trying very hard to get caught up on my blog reading. Even when I'm gone for a month, I read everything I missed, and try to comment as much as I can. Because I'm a loyal follower like that. Unfortunately, I follow a lot of blogs. And about 40% of them write a post everyday. Which makes for a lot of reading.
All this means that though I've been reading a lot all week, I'm still not caught up. Don't worry awesome people with blogs that start with a letter like S, I'm coming :P
Sorry, alphabetically is the only way I can do it without getting hopelessly confused. It doesn't mean your less awesome if I haven't read your blogs yet.
Yeah... I think that's all for now. Thanks for reading my rambles :D

*cricket cricket*
Hi... So some of you may or may not have noticed that I've been gone for a month.....
Oops.
To be fair, it wasn't all my fault. You see, I was abducted by lab rats from Somalia...
Oh who am I kidding? A funny story (*cough* homework troll *cough*) isn't enough to explain this one.
At the beginning of this month, I got pretty sick, which is weird for me. Seriously, my family can get like the plague or something, and I'll be fine. But yeah, I got sick.
Not blogging during sickness is cool right?
This next part is my fault though. I had two weeks or so where I was fine, but I had entered
The end of school insanity zone!
Still, I should have blogged. Cause I didn't have that much on my plate.
This last week was the very last week of school, and I was excited to finally have time to blog (note:end of school=no assignments whatsoever) But! I got sick again! GAH!
And this time I'm pretty sure it was the plague. For a while I couldn't even sit up.
For this last week, I plead not guilty.
But really? I should have been able to blog once this month.
*sorry face*
So this week, I shall get all caught up on reading other blogs again, cause I really have missed all you amazing people. I'll comment again. And who knows? We might actually get into some cool stuff on my blog :D
Friends? I swear I'll get back into the blogosphere.
